Where we are


The SPICS curriculum of studies covers a two-year period. The first year is a general introduction to the problems of communication and an initiation in the individual media. The second year allows the student to specialize in an area on the basis of his study plan, bearing in mind the student's aptitude and the aims of his studies. By way of exception it is possibie to frequent the first year only provided there are motivating circumstances.


1. To be admitted to the SPICS courses a university entrance level diploma is required.


2. The following are required for student registration:

  • the consent of the Director of the SPICS;

  • the authenticated photocopy of studies already completed;

  • four color or b/w passport-size photographs;

  • payment of the registration fee;

  • guarantee of payment of course fees.


3. Suitability to undertake the course is reached after an interview with the Director of the SPICS. This covers the area of general knowledge, background and experience in the field of social communications, the student's future plans in the field of social communications at the completion of studies and a knowledge of the ltalian language.


4. The SPICS selects 25 (twenty-five) students from among those who apply. Requests for enrolment are accepted from January 1st until places are filled. Requests for enrolment will not be accepted after September 15th.


5. The academic year always starts on the first Monday of October and terminates on June 15th of the following year. Classes are from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Workshop classes are required on some days from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. In the first year there are 20 hours of teaching and 10 hours of training in the technical labs each week. The second year foresees 17 hours of teaching each week while the rest of the time is given to professional research in line with the study plan as set out.


6. At the conclusion of the second year the SPICS issues a certificate of specialization to those students who have passed their exams in the individual subjects and who have defended a thesis relative to their study plan. Those who have taken the exams for the first year subjects are issued a certificate of attendance.
