The Studio Paolino Intemazionale
della
Comunicazione Sociale (SPICS)
is a training and higher studies centre which grew
out of an idea of Fr James Alberione (1884-1971)
"to preach through the use of social communication:
press, cinema, radio, television, records, cassettes,
etc...".
To bring this idea to life - an intuition he had
from his deepfaith rooted in the signs of the times, -
Fr Alberione founded several religious
Congregations and Secular Institutes.
Priests, men and women religious and lay
persons contribute with varying but complementary
tasks "to evangelize todays
world with todays means".
Carrying on
the Founder's work, the Society
of St. Paul, the first religious Congregation founded
by Fr Alberione for the apostolate of social
communications, has established the SPICS
centre for the scientific study of those subjects
that make up social communications in
view of using them throughout pastoral activities.
